In the next few years, Angola will install the first Cybersecurity Academy, based in Luanda, to train young graduates on tools to protect against cyberattacks, said the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies, and Media (MINTTCS), Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira.

During a press conference, the announcement was made this week on the launch of the 1st Expo Forum on Cybersecurity in Angola, to be held on May 10 in the Angolan capital.

According to the governor, “Cybersecurity is an area in which, unfortunately, the country has a huge deficit in trained staff, hence the need for training staff to make our cyberspace safer.”

Mário de Oliveira admitted the reality of insecurity and cybercrime in the various sectors, leading to information exposure.

However, he said he hopes the forum can gather ideas for an effective solution.

According to the minister, the creation of the Expo on Cybersecurity aims to discuss network and information system security with citizens and public and private entities.

The event will focus on a round table with the theme “The vision of public entities on the impact of cyberattacks on their activity.”

The event will discuss “the importance of Angolan legislation in the fight against cybercrime,” “the impact of cybercrime prevention,” and “the security operations center serving the government’s cybersecurity” in public and private companies.

The 1st Expo Forum on Cybersecurity in Luanda will bring together experts, specialists, and representatives of public and private companies to discuss security strategies for networks and information systems aiming to increase guarantees of free, secure, and efficient use of cyberspace.
