Venezuelan government willing to build a “new stage” in its relations with the EU

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stated that Venezuela is prepared to enhance its relationship with the European Union (EU), provided it is based on mutual respect and cooperation.

His comments were made during the Summit between the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Brussels.

Maduro expressed his desire for a renewed relationship with Europe, acknowledging the large European diaspora residing in Venezuela, consisting of significant Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese populations.

He emphasized these populations as a link between Venezuela and Europe.

Vice President Delcy Rodríguez represented Venezuela at the EU-CELAC Summit, a meeting between representatives from 33 CELAC and 30 EU countries.

During these discussions, Maduro noted that Venezuela would request the cessation of sanctions and pressure against the country.

Additionally, Maduro welcomed the expansion of services of Spanish airline Iberia in Venezuela and extended an invitation to all Spanish businesses interested in investing in the country, ensuring them favorable conditions.
