Venezuela determines capture of opposition members
Venezuela’s attorney general, Tarek William Saab, said the court had issued an arrest warrant against three former opposition parliamentarians earlier this week.
The term of office of the parliamentarians ended in January 2021, and both went into exile in Spain and the United States.
The former parliamentarians are Dinorah Figuera, Marianela Fernández and Auristela Vásquez. “We prosecuted them and requested the respective arrest warrants,” Saab said.

The regime of Nicolás Maduro managed to regain control of the Legislative Power, in December last year, after elections considered suspicious. From that month on, the opposition led by Juan Guaidó began to be persecuted.
ACCUSATIONS AGAINST FORMER VENEZUELAN PARLIAMENTARIANS
According to the attorney general, the opponents are accused of crimes of “usurpation of functions, treason to the homeland, money laundering and criminal association”. The Venezuelan government made a “red alert” request to Interpol, in which it expects collaboration from Spain and the United States, where the parliamentarians reside. “Let’s see what the governments of these countries do with our orders,” added Saab.
The attorney general also reported the request for the seizure of assets and the blocking of the accounts of the three former deputies. In addition, two arrest warrants were requested against José Figueiredo Márquez and Luis Alberto Bustos, appointed secretary and undersecretary of the interim government, who do not recognize the legitimacy of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
This Sunday, the 8th, the opposition denounced a “judicial persecution” against the new board of the 2015 Parliament, which maintains control of some State assets abroad.
