Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight is a big night at the popular Copacabana club Cave, as Cave Sessions will host very special guest British DJ Richy Ahmed.
Part of the new wave of up-and-coming underground British DJs currently re-defining house music, Ahmed blends disco and funk with house to create a unique sound with a distinctive edge.
Ahmed has been a resident DJ for Ibiza’s Paradise events and has appeared at famous festivals including; The Nexus at Burning Man, Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival and Sonar in Barcelona. Ahmed has also served as resident DJ for Hot Creations parties hosted around the world. Founded by Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, Hot Creations is a groundbreaking independent dance label that also releases Ahmed’s productions.

Sertanejo Open Bar Universitário (Glória)
It’s time again for Open Bar Universitário (University Open Bar) at La Passion Club in Glória. Tonight it’s all about sertanejo with DJ Ronaldo, of Fm O Dia, spinning. DJs Rodrigo Mattos and Raphael de Lucca will also throw down and the open bar will feature vodka, Hi-Fi, cerveja, Cuba Libre, Lagoa Azul, water and a buffet of salgados.

Tempero Carioca (Lapa)
It’s all about roda de samba at Carioca da Gema tonight. Inácio Rios will get things started at 8:30 PM and Tempero Carioca will begin at 10:30 PM with veterans of samba taking those in attendance on a musical tour of the history of the city’s signature sound.

Telma Tavares and Gilmar Ferreira(Centro)
At Centro’s Rio Scenarium tonight beginning at 7:30 PM, Brazilian singer and instrumentalist Telma Tavares will perform music from her new album entitled Veia Mestiça (Mixed Vein) as well as cover the works of Chico Buarque, Hermeto Pascoal, Maurício Einhorn, and Carlos Malta.
Then beginning at 10:30 PM Gilmar Ferreira, better known at Trombone de Gafieira, will deliver some of the best chorinho in Rio. Perfect for a night of dancing.
