The many gastronomic options in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and others in a region with dozens of thriving cities and countless business people or entrepreneurs looking to start or close a business make it difficult to choose the best place.

Given this framework, Bloomberg Línea presented the challenge of drawing up a list of the best restaurants in Latin America for business meetings.

According to the editorial committee of Bloomberg Línea, the list was developed after consultation with gourmands, guides, and sommeliers on what points should be considered by those who want to make a business lunch in the financial and economic capitals of Latin America.

Business people, executives, bankers, and entrepreneurs were consulted for the final result.

“This list is not intended to definitively suggest restaurants in a region that offers some of the best gastronomic spots in the world but to point out a sample of places where business people, executives, and entrepreneurs can sit down to enjoy experiences and talk business,” says the editorial committee of Bloomberg Línea.

Among the options that Bloomberg Línea proposes are classics in some cities, such as Gero and La Tambouille in São Paulo, Lasai in Rio de Janeiro, Hacienda de los Morales in Mexico City, Astrid y Gastón in Lima, Leo in Bogota, or Ambrosía in Santiago, among the 30 best restaurants for business in the region.

Likewise, Bloomberg Línea presents some options in the American city of Miami, which business people and executives from Latin America on business trips also frequent.

“Miami is one of the business capitals of Latin America where, due to the recent arrival of migrants, both from the region and from cities like New York, it is a highly competitive sport to find good places for business lunches,” said Kaio Philipe, a Brazilian media executive, and entrepreneur who immigrated to the city in 2016.

“The dining ecosystem here has grown in options, and patrons can find restaurants that offer a recipe of flavor, location, and charm for a good power lunch,” said the executive (Philipe is part of Falic Media, the media group that operates Bloomberg Línea).

For his part, Amilcar Olivares, gastronomy expert and collaborator of initiatives such as San Pellegrino’s Guide, says:

“Latin America stands out for its gastronomy, and whoever sets up a restaurant must take into account that its offer competes with places where there are those who want to go to be seen, those who want to go unnoticed but eat and drink well, and tourists who want to experience local flavors.”

According to the experts consulted by Bloomberg Línea in the region, a restaurant that wants to attract customers in the vast spectrum of “business” should excel in the following aspects:

• Location
• Menu and wine list
• Chef’s evaluation
• Privacy
• Ad hoc facilities (for groups or presentations)
• Attractive mix (not highly local, but neither touristy nor trendy)
