Paulinho da Viola @ Fundição Progresso (Lapa) – Paulinho da Viola and the ‘Velha Guarda da Portela’ (old Guarda da Portela) receive Criolo in ‘A Noite Veste Azul,’ (The Night Wears Blue) at Fundição Progresso.
The show, which is directed by Elifas Andreato celebrates the 95th anniversary of the traditional Rio samba school ‘azul e branca’ (blue and white). In honour of this special anniversary, for the first time in Rio de Janeiro, Paulinho da Viola and Criolo will share the same stage. Two musical giants young and old coming together as one on what is going to be a special evening for Brazilian music.
The evening starts at 10PM and tickets are available from R$70.

PARTY:
BlackBASE @ MAM (Centro) – This party will be celebrating ten years of BlackBASE. These parties are known for playing the latest in hip hop, rap, r ‘n’ b, soul, and even some classic’s from Rio’s golden era.
The suggested look for this party is ‘cinematic’ given the highly stylish and modern surrounds of Rio’s MAM (Museum of Modern Art). Tonight’s lineup includes: Saraiva, Nepal, Tamenpi, DJ RV, and Pauly.
Tickets are available from R$70 and the night gets going at 10PM.

MGMT @ Circo Voador (Lapa) – With sold-out tickets in several US and European cities, psychedelic rockers MGMT are bringing their live show to Brazil in support of their fourth album, the critically-acclaimed ‘Little Dark Age.’
The songs from their new album are the basis of MGMT’s show in Brazil in November, but the megahits of Oracular Spectacular such as ‘Time to Pretend,’ ‘Kids’ and ‘Electric Feel’ are almost guaranteed to feature for those who remember that far back (2007!).
Tickets are available from R$140 and the doors open at 9PM.

Flashback (Ipanema)
Flashback is a high-end restaurant with plenty of classical music and photos decorating the walls. Tonight, between 7PM and 9PM the restaurant will serve a happy hour with two for one on caipivodkas and Stella Artois. The caipivodkas are made fresh with either lime, strawberry or passionfruit as well as additional herbs added in for a taste explosion.
