Xote do Teles (Centro) – Arco do Telos is one of the most historical nightlife areas in the city, and tonight there will be a performance by Cordel Negro. Cordel Negro are a band of musicians who are intent on creating a new sound, descended from the African rhythms and traditional melodies of Brazil’s past, but also brought right up to date.
This free event will trace the roots of Brazilian music with songs that journey through varying genres such as samba, choro, forró and carimbó. Things should get started at around 8PM. For those who want to learn a bit of forró dancing, there will be a class open at 7:30PM with the instructor João Gabriel Caldeira Pires from the group Forró New Roots.
The drinks offers for the night are a bucket of five Devassa Puro Malte for R$40, and Antártica and Brahma at R$10 per bottle.

Mina Agossi @ Manouche Club (Jardim Botanico) – The ‘Aliança Francesa’ (French Alliance) presents the French singer from Benin, Mina Agossi, with her unique style of contemporary jazz.
Agossi combines jazz with the richness of African, Caribbean and European rhythms. She began her career as a singer in the early nineties, and for ten years accompanied the famous American saxophonist Archie Shepp and collaborated with pianist Ahmed Jamal. In her latest album, ‘Urbafrica,’ Agossi seeks to return to the “organic energies” of Benin, exploring the country’s musical tradition and African rhythms today, urban and connected to the world.
Tickets are between R$30 – R$60 and the night starts at 9PM.

Lapa Irish Session @ Lapa Irish pub (Lapa) – All those interested in traditional Irish music (with any level of skill) are welcome to take part in the Lapa Irish Session which takes place every Tuesday at Lapa Irish Pub.
The Lapa Irish Pub is a great place to relax with friends and have a beer. Just be prepared to abide by a few rules for the night: Only sit at the musicians’ table if you have to; usually the more experienced musicians play the tunes, and will invite other musicians to start at their discretion; if playing any accompaniment, do not play too loud! Do not speak to the musicians while they are playing; ask before recording the session; Never touch another person’s instrument without permission! Feel free to sing the chorus in a drinking song, but during a capella songs, it is the rule for the audience to remain silence.
If in doubt speak with the band: Fernanda Esteves, Daniel Xavier, Hugo Pansini and Daniel Nicolato, or the very helpful manager of the pub, Suellen. This evening is free entry and usually begins at around 8:30PM.
