Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight American indie, folk, and roots singer-songwriter Sam Beam, better known by his stage name Iron & Wine, will perform live at Sacadura 154.

Since 2002, Beam, as Iron & Wine, has released five full-length albums, severals EPs, live albums and vinyl EPs and LPs. He is currently touring in support of his fifth studio album entitled, Sing Into My Mouth, which was released earlier this year in July.

Beam’s well-known songs include “Upward Over the Mountain” from The Creek Drank the Cradle; “Flightless Bird, American Mouth,” and “Boy With a Coin,” both from the 2007 album, The Shepherd’s Dog; and “Naked as We Came,” from the 2004 album, Our Endless Numbered Days.

Sacadura 154’s doors will open at 10PM and a playlist from the platform Soundsgood entitled, Que Se Folk, will be played before and after the show.

Tonight at Audio Rebel in Botago Quintavant / QTV will present live performances by Bemônio and Baby Hitler. Bemônio will launch the new album Desgosto during the event.

Tonight Teatro Odisséia in Lapa will host the bands Bagunço and Choque do Magriça performing live. DJ Rodrigo Cavalcanti will also spin during the night.

The Veneno party is back at Casa da Matriz tonight. For over ten years the weekly events, filled with good music and beautiful people, have helped start weekends early in Rio. Tonight will be no exception as DJs Tulio Araujo and Beto Artista will spin the best of rock and pop on the first floor and the Meninas Veneno will return to take over on the second floor, spinning the best of unsigned during the night.

Tonight the O Clube party returns to Gávea’s chic club 00 (Zero Zero) with DJs Bruno Vinelli, Farinha, RV and Flavia Xexeo spinning the best of hip hop throughout the night.

Shake U Party (Ipanema)
On Thursday nights the Praia Club, now located in Ipanema, is hosting the Shake u Party. DJs Angola, Jonathan, Paulinho, and De Luca will spin the best of pop indie, house, funk, hip hop, trap, and Latin Rhythms during the night. The entrance fee will be free for women with their names on the list until 12AM and there will be an open bar for women until 12AM. Caipirinhas will be free for men until 12AM. Additional promotions will include two for one specials on beer and vodka plus energy drinks all night long.

Cabaret Quinta (Botafogo)
Tonight the Cabaret Quinta event returns to the Cabaret Lounge in Botafogo. DJ Fernando Dias will spin the best of rock and pop and promotions will include two-for-one specials on Heinekn and sparkling wine from 6:30PM to 9:30PM.

Salsa in Rio (Copacabana)
Tonight the Salsa in Rio party returns to the the Mariuzinn club in Copacabana. DJ Sabroson will spin the best of Latin rhythms including salsa, bachata, reggaeton, cumbia, merengue and Latin pop and DJ Guga Fernandes will spin the best of house and deep house, hip hop and funk during the night. Additionally, caipirinhas and Cuba Libres will be free until midnight.

Artigo Esgotado and Flávia Dantas (Centro)
Beginning at 7:30PM, singer Flávia Dantas returns to Rio Scenarium to start the night with her reinterpretations of works by Tom Jobim, Vinícius de Moraes, João Donato, Dorival Caymmi, Ary Barroso, Chico Buarque, Noel Rosa, and Cartola among others. The group Artigo Esgotado will follow at 10:30PM with the best of classic and contemporary samba.

Salsa and Forró Leviano (Lapa)
Tonight at Lapa’s Leviano bar it’s time to dance as the group Mano a Mano starts things off at 8PM with salsa and merengue on the first floor. Later on the second floor the weekly Forró Leviano party will welcome special guests to perform live. Additionally, DJ Angolano will spin salsa and DJ Léo Araripe will spin forró during the night.

Roda de Samba with Rixxa (Lapa)
For a great night of dancing and singing, head to Lapa’s Carioca da Gema. The venue will come alive at 7:30PM as JP Silva performs live. Then at 9:30PM it’s time for three hours of samba provided by vocalist Rixxa accompanied by brilliant percussionists and veteran musicians of the genre.

Grecco @ Lord Jim’s Pub (Ipanema)
The band Grecco will perform live at Lord Jim’s Pub in Ipanema tonight. Promotions during the event will include two-for-one specials on Cuba, Libre, mojito and Jägermeister. Lord Jim’s Pub is the oldest pub in Rio and is well known for live music and promotional specials. During Happy Hours (6PM to 8PM) on Mondays through Fridays, the pub offers two-for-one draft beer. This is also a great place to watch live sports.
