LIVE:
Homenagem a Raul Seixas @ Fundição Progresso (Lapa) – This month marks the 29th anniversary of the death of Raul Seixas, one of the giants of Brazilian rock, and so ‘Mar de Culturas’ (Sea of Cultures) at Lapa’s famous Fundição Progresso are putting on a tribute night including live music.
The night begins at 7:30PM and is free to attend. There will be input from Kika Seixa, producer and ex-wife of Raul Seixas; Sylvio Passos, writer and founder of the Raul Seixas fan club; and a musical performance from Raul Seixas’s guitarist Rick Ferreira.
With his tribute to Raul Seixas, “Rick Ferreira Toca Raúuul & Banda” (Rick Ferreira Plays Rauuuul & Band) the ‘faithful squire’ of Seixas will present some of his leader’s best-loved hits, such as ‘Sociedade Alternativa’ (Alternative Society) ‘Maluco Beleza’ (Crazy Beauty) and ‘Gita.’

PARTY:
Festa Classy @ Fosfobox (Copacabana) – Classic hip-hop, bass, trap, dub, dancehall, and much more tonight at Fosfobox.
Festa Classy opens its doors at 11PM and tickets cost between R$20-R$30.
The dancefloor will be pumping with music courtesy of DG Dos Santos, Vinelli, Big Syphe (over from the US) as well as Bruno X and Gabi Oliveira.
Dirty Two, Fernando Quixada, and WilHvlm will also be spinning on the decks at the Fosfobar.

LIVE:
Junio Barreto Trio @ Manouche (Jardim Botânico) – Junio Barreto is a singer and composer from Pernambuco, now based in São Paulo.
He has played concerts in Brazil and Europe, released three critically acclaimed albums, and has also had his songs recorded by Gal Costa, Céu, Maria Rita, Roberta Sá, to name but a few.
Tonight he will be accompanied by Rafael Montorfano on piano, Filipe Massumi on cello.
Together, the Junio Barreto Trio will present unpublished songs from their upcoming project as well as fan favorites from previous albums such as ‘Santana,’ ‘Colarzinho de piedra azul’ (Blue Stone Necklace) and ‘Oie.’
They will also be interpreting classics from the great masters of Brazilian popular music, such as Cartola, Torquato Neto and Edu Lobo.
Tickets are available from between R$30-R$60 and the night will begin at 9PM.

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Pub Escondido (Copacabana)
Those into the pub atmosphere will also love Pub Escondido, a discrete venue with premium beer labels, modern design and a really cool vibe. The pub offers 24 different beer taps, which includes the house’s draught beer, Escondido Weiss, made of wheat.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave Ipanema is a great place for good Mexican food, drinks and live sports. It also has English-speaking staff and is a popular expat hangout. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.

Yndú Lounge (Leblon)
With chilled out vibes during the week and a selection of top DJs playing shows at the weekends, the newly-opened Yndú Lounge in Ipanema is a great option to kick back. With a selection of drinks and tapas, the bar is quickly becoming one of Leblon’s best watering holes.
