Rio Nightlife Guide for Friday, June 21, 2019

We have the top three picks for this Friday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.
PARTY:
ArraIndie @ Casa da Matriz (Botafogo) – Want a Festa Junina with a twist? Too cool for the traditional quadrilhas? Then head down to Casa da Matriz in Rio’s buzzing Botafogo for the ultra-hip ArraIndie.
Prepare yourself for all the trappings of a Festa Junina, decorations, costumes, plus the usual two-for-one caipirinhas until 2 AM. You’ll also be able to play ping pong, and of course, dance your socks off to rock and indie on one dancefloor and pop and funk on the other.
Tickets are between R$10 – R$60 and the night begins at 11:30 PM.
ArraIndie – 107 Rua Henrique de Novaes – Botafogo

LIVE:
Sambinha @ Espaço Corcovado (Cosme Velho) – If you want a wholesome yet fun way to spend your Friday night, then what could be nicer than being in the open air, surrounded by the Atlantic Forest and under the embrace of Christ the Redeemer, listening to some of the best live samba in the city?
The perfect way to start your weekend with some cold beers, caipirinhas, and tunes courtesy of Samba do Mercado and DJ Jimmy in one of Rio’s most breathtaking locations.
Tickets are between R$20 – R$40, and the night starts at 9:30 PM.
Sambinha – Rua Conselheiro Lampreia 169 – Cosme Velho
For more information, head to the event page.
LIVE:
Tributo ao Rei do Pop @ Vivo Rio (Centro) – For all the Michael Jackson fans out there, the continent’s biggest tribute to the King of Pop comes back to Vivo Rio with this special edition.
Apart from seeing Rodrigo Teaser’s uncanny imitation, you’ll also be witnessing a special appearance from LaVelle Smith, one of Michael Jackson’s original choreographers.
Tickets are available from R$80 – R$200, and the show starts at 9 PM.
Tributo ao Rei do Pop – Avenida Infante Dom Henrique 85 – Centro

LOUNGES, BARS & PUBS:
Bartman (Flamengo)
This eccentric boteco does everything right. With great Brazilian bar food, excellent beer, and a loyal crowd, Bartman also sets itself apart from the competition with its mad decor of kitschy comic book regalia. Try the carne de sol with fried aipim for a real hearty treat.
Bartman – 9 AM
Rua Buarque de Macedo, 83 – Flamengo – Tel.: (21) 2558-6913
Entrance: Free
Casa da Cachaça (Lapa)
This cultural heritage site of Rio de Janeiro was the first cachaçaria to open in the city, back in 1960. And by the looks of things, they’ve been busy ever since, with over 200 cachaças piled up the walls and hanging from the ceiling. The regular caipirinhas here are a great value and pack a punch. For an interesting twist, try a flavored shot, such as the açaí-infused cachaça.
Casa da Cachaça – 4 PM
Av. Mem de Sá, 110A – Lapa – Tel.: (21) 2531-7219
Entrance: Free
Imaculada Bar e Galeria (Saúde)
A charming old-world bar that hosts music and art exhibitions while serving excellent food and drinks. Located near both Pedra do Sal and Praça Mauá, they offer a hearty feijoada on Fridays and Saturdays, plus live music on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, including karaoke, samba, and jazz.
Imaculada Bar e Galeria – 11:30 AM
Ladeira do João Homem, 7 – Saúde – Tel.: (21) 2283-2747
Entrance: Free
