Rekorderlig Cider Sponsors The Rio Times 7-Year Anniversary Party

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Rio Times 7-Year Anniversary Party will be held today (Saturday, May 7th) from 3PM to 10PM in Ipanema at the Casa Mosquito, with support from Rekorderlig Cider. The Swedish brand has extended their distribution from London to New York, Auckland and Sydney, and now Rio de Janeiro.

The cider was first created in 1999 with spring water from Vimmerby, Sweden as legend has it, where it is still produced today by Åbro Bryggeri. Stocked in a wide range of the UK’s favorite bars and supermarkets, Rekorderlig continues to launch in new countries while maintaining its proud Swedish heritage.

Editor and Publisher of The Rio Times, Stone Korshak, shares his thoughts on Rekorderlig sponsoring the event, “Since we have been working on the event I keep hearing how well Rekorderlig is known in the UK and Australia, from my wife to one of our reporters and others, people love the stuff. For me that is perfect for our event, the cross-cultural exchange between Brazil and the international community.”

The brand’s representative in Brazil, English-expatriate Russell Browne, explains “Rekorderlig Cider has been selling in Brazil only since the end of March 2016. Currently we are selling in only four States: RS, PR, ES and RJ but we hope to find distributers in every state of Brazil in the coming months. Our Facebook page has a list of all the places we are currently stocked, plus you can purchase Rekorderlig on line and have it delivered anywhere in Brazil.”

In terms of the challenge in bringing the brand to Brazil, Browne admits, “Once you add in the high protectionist import tariffs we did question whether it was going to be worth it – nearly seventy percent of the price of Rekorderlig Cider is tax here. But that doesn’t seem to be putting any Brazilians off as we have already sold 800 cases in just five weeks and are on target to sell 10,000 by the end of the year.”

For the event, he adds, “We want to show [people] or remind them what they’ve been missing out on. The blend of apple and pear cider with fruit notes of strawberry-lime, or passionfruit, served chilled over-ice appears to be a winning combination for Rio’s hot weather. We merely want people to enjoy trying us and enhance a great event by adding some Beautifully Swedish style.”

In addition to the amazing location, sponsored drinks by Rekorderlig Cider, and a complete bar and food menu available from Casa Mosquito, music will be provided by DJ Slim. Egyptian by way of England, DJ Slim has become a favorite with his funky-soul sounds and crowd-moving beats.

This year’s anniversary party will also have a raffle, with one ticket free as part of the entrance fee. Additional tickets will be sold throughout the day and evening, with prizes ranging from a stylish bag from Gilson Martins, Rekorderlig samples, a free day use at Casa Mosquito to a R$900 package of one-on-one Portuguese lessons from Leblon language school, Portugues Carioca. More prizes and details will be announced at the event.
