Record Number of Passengers in June on International Flights to and from Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The number of passengers flown on international flights grew 4.6 percent in June. In the month 686,000 passengers were carried, the highest figure for June in the National Civil Aviation Agency’s (ANAC) historical series, which began twenty years ago. The agency released the data on Friday, July 26th.
While the number of international passengers increased, the number of domestic passengers decreased by 2.7 percent compared to June 2018, reaching 6.973 million.
The number of international passengers in the year to date also broke the record and reached 4.6 million. The number of domestic passengers increased 1.5 percent in the first half of 2019, compared to the first six months of 2018, and reached 45.5 million passengers.
Companies
With the end of Avianca‘s domestic market, Azul became the company that most increased its participation in the local market. Its share rose 28,7 percent, and the company closed the month, holding 25.4 percent of the market.
Gol increased its share by 6.6 percent and achieved forty percent of the market, while Latam increased its share by 3.9 percent and closed the month with 34.1 percent of the market.
In the international market, Latam closed the month of June with a 69.6 percent share of the market; Azul had 17.5 percent, and Gol had 12.8 percent.
