Paraguayans fully booked to visit Brazil: “There is a certain desperation to travel”
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The president of the Paraguayan Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism Companies (ASATUR) Carlos Cardozo said that the number of bookings to several foreign destinations has increased.
“There is a certain desperation to travel after almost 2 years of forced stop, many people left travel pending in 2020 and now add to those who want to do it,” he said. He highlighted that southern Brazil is one of the most sought-after destinations due to its proximity and convenience. In addition, there is high demand for the Caribbean, Punta Cana and Cancun.
Regarding prices, Cardozo pointed out that there are not many offers due to the current high demand. “Planes are full and hotels are now at 80% occupancy. We expected a price drop, but it didn’t happen,” he said.
With respect to cruise ships departing from Miami, Cardozo said that from November 8, in order to enter the U.S., passengers are required to have full anti-Covid vaccination with World Health Organization (WHO)-approved doses. “People who have taken the Sputnik V have more difficulties, but not the other vaccines,” he added.
