JetSmart and American Airlines have officially launched their strategic alliance with the sale of codeshare flights between the United States and Chile.
This has created the largest route network in the Americas and access to a travel benefits program for customers of both companies.
This agreement gives JetSmart an impetus for expansion in Latin America and contributes to the regional economy through greater dynamism in tourism and other productive sectors in which air transport plays an important role.
The sale of tickets to and from the United States – and American’s extensive worldwide network – initially connecting with routes in Chile (Santiago, Antofagasta, Concepción, and Puerto Montt) is the first in a series of milestones that will unite American’s global presence with JetSmart’s complementary offering on 77 routes in South America, providing competitive fares and multiple options for travelers throughout the Americas.
Tickets went on sale June 1 for flights between the US and Chile with a June 15 departure date and can be booked on American’s website or by calling American Reservations.
In the coming weeks, new codeshare routes will be available for travelers in other regions of Chile and Peru.
In Argentina, additional codeshare routes will be added, subject to government approval.
The AAdvantage loyalty program, which JetSmart expects to join later this year, will allow the airlines’ customers to take advantage of special offers, promotions, and mileage earnings for passengers in several South American markets.
The alliance will allow customers to earn more travel awards and use their miles to access new destinations and exclusive benefits worldwide.
In 2023, AAdvantage was awarded the Freddie Award for Best Elite Program in the Americas for the eleventh consecutive year.
The Points Guy also recognized AAdvantage with an Editor’s Choice Award for innovation in loyalty.
