Hulk Scores Twice, Leading Atlético-MG to Victory Over Corinthians

On Sunday night at Arena MRV, Atlético-MG secured a 2-1 victory over Corinthians, marking the team’s first defeat under the guidance of coach Ramón Diaz. Hulk stood out by scoring both goals for Atlético-MG.

The scoring began at the 31-minute mark with Hulk converting a penalty. Corinthians quickly equalized with a goal from Yuri Alberto.

He capitalized on a precise cross from Rodrigo Garro. However, towards the end of the second half, Hulk sealed the victory with another penalty.

This result positioned Corinthians in the 15th spot in the standings, with 19 points. Atlético-MG moved up to 9th place, accumulating 28 points.

Looking ahead, Corinthians will host Juventude next Sunday at 4 PM (Brasília time). Atlético-MG will travel to face Criciúma on Saturday at 8 PM.

Both teams have midweek fixtures in the Copa do Brasil. Corinthians will welcome Grêmio on Wednesday at 9:30 PM. Atlético-MG will visit CRB at 7 PM.

The pressure intensified. At the 36-minute mark, Atlético-MG nearly scored again. A corner by Gustavo Scarpa allowed Alan Franco to head the ball. Hugo Souza made a reflex save, aided by the post.

Persistence paid off for Atlético-MG. They scored five minutes before the end of regular time.

Hulk scored his second penalty of the night after André Ramalho fouled Paulinho. This clinched a memorable victory for the home side.
