Coordination meeting between Argentina and Brazil Armies held for Arandú exercise

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The meeting took place in the facilities of the 2nd Mechanized Cavalry Brigade, with the goal of defining essential aspects of the future binational exercises between the two countries’ land troops.

This type of Bilateral Meetings are held within the framework of the 14th BRAZIL – ARGENTINA 2020 Bilateral Conference of Military Forces, signed by both armies.

The Argentine delegation was headed by the Commander of the Argentine Army Rapid Deployment Force Brigadier General Tomás Ramón Moyano, while the Brazilian Army delegation was led by Brigadier General Willian Koji Kamei, Commander of the 2nd Mechanized Cavalry Brigade, part of the Brazilian Army’s Southern Military Command.

The Bilateral Meeting between the two forces was held within the context of camaraderie and professionalism in order to define aspects and coordinate efforts for combined military exercises to be carried out in Argentina. In this respect, a Simulation Exercise is scheduled for the second half of 2022 in the province of Buenos Aires. This will be followed by another Military Exercise to be conducted in 2023.

In 2020, a total of 2,300 Argentine and Brazilian troops participated in the Arandú Exercise at the facilities of the 29th Armored Infantry Battalion of the Brazilian Army, in Santa María, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.

Among the material deployed were 6×6 Guarani, Leopard 1, as well as Agrale Marruá light scout vehicles. Both armies deployed elements of their Air Commands with Argentine Bell UH-1H, Brazilian Helibras H225 (EC 725 Super Cougar) and AS565 Panther.
