Paraguay-Brazil Itaipu negotiation: no unilateral tariff may be set

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Mario Abdo Benítez's government proposed maintaining the price and calmly reaching the review of Annex C of the Itaipu Treaty in 2023.

"Brazil cannot impose anything because the decisions taken in Itaipu are based on consensus; that is, a unilateral tariff cannot be set. Negotiations will not be easy because it is very important that the tariff be lowered for Brazil," he said.

Oxilia stated that the Paraguayan team of advisors and directors who will have to negotiate with Brazil must be trusted. In view of the Paraguayan proposal, Brazil has until next month . . .
