RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazilian tennis player Bia Haddad Maia and Kazakh Anna Danilina defeated Japanese Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara on Wednesday night, January 26, and advanced to the final of the Australian Open.

The Brazilian and the Kazakh defeated the seeded double number 2 of the tournament by 2 sets to 1 with scores of 6/4, 5/7 and 6/4 in 2 hours and 18 minutes.

Haddad became the 1st Brazilian woman to reach a Grand Slam decider in the open era, which began in 1968.
