Paraguay recorded inflation of 1.5% in January
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Inflation in Paraguay stood at 1.5% in January, well above the 0.5% recorded in the same month of 2021.
Thus, the inter-annual inflation stood at 7.9%, compared to 6.8% in December 2021 and 2.6% in the same month last year, detailed the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP).
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) behavior was attributed to the increase in food, fuels, and durable goods.
According to the BCP, the increase in the price of beef, attributed to the lack of rainfall in the country, and of bakery products, as a consequence of the rise in the cost of inputs, impacted the food item.
The increase in petroleum fuels also impacted inflation, as well as imported goods such as vehicles, household appliances, motorcycles, and audiovisual equipment.
