Whales are Spotted Along the Shore of Rio’s West Zone

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Humpback whales were spotted swimming a few meters off the coast of Rio on Thursday, June 27th.

Bathers who were on a waterbike recorded the event near the Tijuca Islands, which are in front of Barra beach in Rio's West Zone.

These whales leave the Antarctic and head for the Abrolhos atoll of the coast of the state of Bahia.

Last week, teacher and canoeist Marcela Carrocino captured the scene where another humpback whale leaped only a few meters from where she was with her class.
