São Paulo Hits New Record of Covid-19 Deaths, With 434 in 24 Hours (June 23rd)

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – The São Paulo Secretary of Health, José Henrique Germann, reported that the state has reached the 13,068 death mark from Covid-19. With the updated figure, the State registers a new record of deaths in one day: between Monday, June 22nd, and Tuesday, June 23rd, there were 434 new deaths, an increase of 3.44 percent.

The previous record of daily deaths in the state had been set on Wednesday, June 17th, with 389 fatalities.

Germann also reported that the state currently counts 229,475 confirmed cases of infection with the novel coronavirus. Between Monday and Tuesday, 7,502 new patients were counted by the system, an increase of 3.38 percent.

According to the Secretary in an interview at the Bandeirantes Palace, the occupancy rate of the state beds stands at 65.7 percent, and at 68.8 percent in the capital’s metropolitan region.
