Brazilian government gives US$500 million for free public transport for people over 65 years old

Brazil's federal government yesterday(25) released a provisional measure (MP) releasing R$2.5 billion (US$500 million) as an extraordinary credit to be transferred to bus companies.

According to the text, the funds will finance free public transportation in states and municipalities for people over 65 years old.

According to the text, the fund will also cover expenses for emergency assistance to truck drivers and cab drivers. This measure was already included in Constitutional Amendment No. 123, approved by Congress on July 14 of this year.
