President Jair Bolsonaro said he would create a new Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Services if re-elected.
He participated via video conference in an interview during the Brazilian Supermarket Association (Abras) Congress on Tuesday (20).
“Yes, we are interested in recreating the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Services. And the person who will hold this office will be determined by you,” Bolsonaro said to the businessmen of the sector.
According to the president, the issue of splitting the Ministry of Economy has already been discussed with Minister Paulo Guedes, who did not oppose it.
“When this ministry was merged with four others, it became the responsibility of Paulo Guedes. I have spoken with him, and we have no difficulty in recreating this Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Services. I believe that this could better lead this policy, despite all the merits of Paulo Guedes and his zeal for the sector, “said Bolsonaro.
The president spoke via videoconference directly from New York, where he was to attend the opening of the work of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
