Three Brazil market moves in three days point to foreign interest in the country’s financial plumbing. NG.CASH raised US$15 million led by the US fund Blockchain Capital, the São Paulo fintech said on Wednesday.

NG.CASH raises US$15 million from a US fund

NG.CASH announced the US$15 million strategic investment on Wednesday 23 September 2026. Blockchain Capital, a US venture firm focused on digital assets, led it.

The company did not name a stage such as seed or Series B. It also named no other investor in the announcement.

Total funding since the 2021 founding now passes US$65 million. NG.CASH began as an offshoot of a YouTube channel that now has 20 million subscribers.

Earlier backers include NEA, which led a US$26.5 million Series B round last year. Exame reported that this is Blockchain Capital’s first investment in Brazil.

What the fintech does and what it still needs

The platform says it serves more than 10 million users, most from middle- and lower-income households. Its credit products include Crédito CLT, a payroll-linked loan, and Pix Crédito.

NG.CASH holds two Banco Central do Brasil licences, one for a direct credit society and one for a payment institution. An application for a virtual asset service provider licence is still being processed.

Brazil’s central bank set rules for virtual asset companies earlier this year. NG.CASH already offers bitcoin and ether trading on its app.

The company is targeting R$1 billion (US$195.7 million) in credit originated by 2027. Currency conversions here use 23 September 2026 rates, about 5.11 reais to the dollar.

Franklin Templeton lists five funds on B3

Franklin Templeton announced its entry into Brazil’s market for depositary receipts of exchange-traded funds on Wednesday. B3 listed five of them, quoted in reais, with a standard lot of one receipt.

A Brazilian depositary receipt, or BDR, is a local security backed by a foreign-listed fund. It lets people in Brazil buy foreign funds in reais without sending money abroad.

The tickers are EZBC for the Franklin Bitcoin ETF and EZET for the Franklin Ethereum ETF. USPX covers the Franklin US Equity Index ETF, FLTW the FTSE Taiwan fund and FTIN the FTSE India fund.

USPX tracks the Morningstar US Target Market Exposure Index, which covers the top 85% of the US market. EZBC and EZET hold bitcoin and ether directly.

B3’s listing notice marks the five receipts for qualified investors. Under Brazilian rules those are generally people with more than R$1 million (US$195,700) invested.

B3 opens a dollar-priced bitcoin future

B3 started trading the dollar-denominated bitcoin future on Monday 21 September 2026. The exchange set the date in circular 059/2026-VPC, published on 15 September 2026.

The ticker is BTC and each contract covers 0.01 bitcoin. Prices are quoted in US dollars per bitcoin, with a minimum move of US$5.

Contracts expire every month, normally on the last Friday. Settlement is in cash against the Nasdaq Bitcoin Reference Price – Settlement index.

B3 also opened BC1, a calendar spread that rolls a position from one expiry to the next.

The older contract, BIT, is quoted in reais per bitcoin and also covers 0.01 bitcoin. Its minimum move is R$20 (US$3.91).

That is the main difference between the two. A BIT price mixes bitcoin’s move with the real–dollar rate, while BTC strips the currency out.

What the Brazil market moves show about foreign appetite

Two of the three steps involve foreign firms. Blockchain Capital and Franklin Templeton are both American, while B3 is the Brazilian exchange itself.

The NG.CASH announcement gives a reason in plain terms. It says venture firms are increasingly looking past a crowded US market toward large markets such as Brazil.

“Brazil is exactly the kind of market we believe will produce them,” said Kinjal Shah, a general partner at Blockchain Capital. She was speaking about category-defining fintech companies.

Three announcements in three days do not make a trend. They do show two large American firms choosing Brazil’s regulated market in the same week.

Why this matters for expats and investors in Latin America

For foreign residents in Brazil, the Franklin receipts are the most practical change. They let you hold US, Indian, Taiwanese, bitcoin and ether exposure in reais through a local broker.

Franklin Templeton has not published the fees charged on the Brazilian receipts. The underlying US fund USPX charges 0.03% a year, and a local wrapper can add costs.

For traders, the BTC contract takes the currency element out of a bitcoin position. That helps if you think in dollars, though margin and leverage rules still apply.

Brazil has had listed crypto funds since 2021, earlier than its neighbours. Other foreign managers have added products since.

What is not known

NG.CASH did not name a round stage or any investor besides Blockchain Capital. It gave no date for a decision on its crypto licence.

Fees on the Franklin receipts have not been published. B3 has not reported how much the new bitcoin contract has traded since Monday.

The next hard numbers will come from B3’s volume data and the central bank’s licence decisions.

Frequently Asked Questions
