Argentina: Ministry of Gender launched new trust for the nationalization of women’s private debt in Buenos Aires

The Buenos Aires Ministry of Gender launched a new trust fund that nationalizes the debt of women who meet certain conditions. The congressman Javier Milei severely pointed against the initiative and proposes to close the ministry.

Governor Axel Kicillof once again expanded the functions and dimension of the Buenos Aires State. Through the Ministry for Women led by the radical feminist Estela Díaz, Kirchnerism signed the nationalization of the private debt of a targeted number of people selected at their discretion.

Formally, the “Desendeudadas” program provides for the creation of a trust to fully assume the financial cost of women “in a situation of vulnerability”.

In other words, the Buenos Aires State will take over the private debt of a focused group of people and this cost will be distributed among all taxpayers in the jurisdiction.

This is the second launch of the plan, after its first debut in mid-2021.

Although it aims to assist women in vulnerable situations, the truth is that the Díaz program does not establish clear guidelines regarding the requirements that must be met to obtain the benefit from the State, although the case of women heads of household or with some kind of food quota from ex-partners.

“Given the false conception of those who maintain that it is not possible to project and postulate a small State and submissive to corporations, as our governor says, we vindicate the State that plans to improve people’s lives and generates horizons for the future,” Díaz announced.

The measures create significant distortions in the Buenos Aires economy.

The arbitrariness of the program’s requirements, as well as the bureaucracy necessary to enforce it, was denounced by the liberal opposition in the La Libertad Avanza bloc of congressman Javier Milei.

The Liberals were the only voice that spoke openly against the program, since the measures were approved with the mutual agreement between the Frente de Todos and Juntos por el Cambio.

Milei explained that the Women’s Ministry covers up a political standoff to create superfluous positions and locate militants from the Kirchnerist political space.

The result of the different “initiatives” of the Ministry are not testable, and therefore each policy is carried out with purely political criteria.

“The Ministry of Women, Gender Policies and Sexual Diversity is a political supporter of the K militancy, and it does not solve the problems it claims to be in charge of,” announced Milei.

Along the same lines, provincial legislator Nahuel Sotelo denounced the excessive paternalistic State of the Province of Buenos Aires, and warned about the dramatic fiscal cost of nationalizing private debts that taxpayers should not assume.
