Wednesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Karaokê Indie is on again tonight at Casa da Matriz in Botafogo. Jello shots will be passed around, giving people the liquid courage they need to belt out their favorite hits. Lots of music to choose from with lots of cheering fans to sing to. Casa da Matriz is one of Rio’s most popular and oldest nightlife venues.
In 1996, Leo Feijoo, then a student of fine arts, decided to create a cultural space from the house that his family was selling. After an agreement was made with his grandfather, Feijoo opened Casa da Matriz as Rio’s first alternative venue. In the beginning, most of the nights featured only rock, but has since grown to include all forms of music, such as pop, electronic, hip hop and of course, karaokê.

The gang from Bem Brasil are starting up a new Wednesday night at the ever famous Fosfobox club in Copacabana. The night will feature a mixup of hip hop upstairs and house downstairs, featuring DJs Haron Dufau and Dymytryus. Arrive early for two hours of free caipirinhas.
