The weekly events were originally one of the first musical programs held at Casa da Matriz and they are back to help bring some rock’n’roll to a usually somewhat inactive weeknight. The event’s popularity is growing as each Tuesday they host a new up-and-coming rock band.
With Casa da Matriz’s multi-room layout, old-school arcade games, and small classic junk shop, this shabby-chic venue has the look and feel of a great house party and the reinvigorated live music policy promises to bring some killer shows to Botafogo.

Casa da Matriz, one of the oldest and best known music venues in Rio, is again presenting live rock’n’roll on Tuesday nights. The shows have returned to help you discover new bands and to inject a little more partying into your week.

Blues Night at Barzin (Ipanema)
Tuesday nights are all about the blues at Ipanema’s Barzin. The venue with its sophisticated atmosphere, great service and variety of drinks is the perfect place to relax and soak up the smooth and soulful sounds of the blues.

Bem Brasil- The Rio Hostels Party (Gávea)
Two hours of free caipirinhas, plus live samba and house DJs, equals a great night out for locals and travelers alike. It’s a weekly opportunity to mix and mingle in one of the chicest venues in Rio.

SILENT|LOUD “Un Chien Andalou”, “Entr’acte”|CCP+Eduardo Manso (Leblon)
Tonight at the Midrash Centro Cultural the SILENT|LOUD program returns with musicians the Chinese Cookie Poets and Eduardo Manso (of Rabotnik) providing live musical accompaniment to the silent films; “Entr’acte” (1924 ), and “Un Chien Andalou” (1929).

Brasil: Novo Destino Para Refugiados (Leblon)
Also at the Midrash tonight journalist Milli Legrain moderates a panel discussion about the refugee influx in Brazil. Speakers include Patricia Waked Ponte (Chief Adviser to the Secretary of Social Welfare and Human Rights), Fabricio Toledo de Souza (Lawyer for Caritas Archdiocese of RJ), and a refugee currently in Brazil.
