Tickets for Rio’s Shell Open Air 2019 Film Festival Selling Fast

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Saturday, April 27th, Shell Open Air announced its 2019 line-up of films that will be screened between Thursday, May 16th until Sunday, June 2nd at Marina da Glória. With a program filled with Oscar winners and cult classics, tickets are selling fast and some screenings are already sold out.

Following on from last year’s success, Shell Open Air returns this year with a host of Oscar-winning films, guest musical stars, food trucks and much more. The films will once again be screened outdoors on the biggest open-air cinema screen in the world.

This year’s line-up includes plenty of Oscar-winning films. Week one of the festival will feature ‘BlacKkKlansman’, showing on Thursday, May 16th, with a live performance from Larissa Luz. Another Oscar winner, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, will be playing on Friday, May 17th.

Week two will feature ‘Green Book’ on Thursday, May 23rd, plus musical accompaniment from Maíra Freitas and Mestrinho. While week three sees ‘A Star is Born’ hit the big screen on Thursday, May 30th.

All the Oscar-winning films have sold-out fast, but there’s still a chance to bag tickets for one of the cult classics or family-friendly films. Tickets are still on sale for the following films. For the kids, there’s ‘How to Train Your Dragon’, showing on Saturday matinee, May 18th, and ‘Detetives do Prédio Azul 2: O Mistério Italiano’ showing on Sunday, May 19th.

‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ will be playing on Saturday matinee, May 25th and ‘The Incredibles’ will be the final matinee of the festival, on Saturday, June 1st.

For cult film fans, ‘The Matrix’ is playing on Saturday, May 18th, with tickets still available at time of writing, plus ‘Priscilla: Queen of the Desert,’ will be adding some color to Saturday evening on May 25th.
