“This is the Best Time to Invest in Brazil,” Says President of Development Bank

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The president of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), Gustavo Montezano, assessed that the combination of macroeconomic and microeconomic progress in the country, combined with changes in the cultural aspect, is such that Brazil is experiencing its “best moment” to attract investments.

The assessment was made during a panel discussion at Brazil Investment Forum 2019.

Montezano pointed out that the country is at the lowest historical level of real interest rates, only two percent per year, a position that generates a potential for growth never before explored. “Brazil is today a great experiment. The lowest interest rate in history and the sustainable growth of the GDP provide us with an unprecedented scenario in the macroeconomic sphere,” he said.

In the microeconomic sphere, the president of the BNDES emphasized that the country is undergoing a number of reforms with relevant influences for various sectors, such as Social Welfare, labor, tax and administration, including the support of legislators. “This is a good time for new entrants and for new investments in the country,” he observed.

The president of the BNDES also noted that one of the accomplishments of the Lava Jato task force was an improvement in the governance framework. “Whether in the public or private setting, we have never seen such a good governance scenario,” he said.
