“No Plan to Privatize Petrobras”, Says its President Castello Branco

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Although the company is undergoing a long divestment process in several areas, the president of Petrobras, Roberto Castello Branco, denied on Tuesday, October 8th, that the company will be privatized.

“There is no plan to privatize Petrobras, that is a fantasy,” he said in a public hearing at the Mines and Energy Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.

“We will not leave anyone behind,” added Castello Branco.

Diesel

The president of Petrobras also claimed that the problem of Brazilian truckers is not the price of diesel, but the lack of demand for road freight transport.

“We could sell diesel at the Venezuelan prices and that wouldn’t solve the truckers’ problem. The problem with truckers is that they lack cargo and, with the incentives provided by previous governments, there is an excess of trucks on the roads,” Castello Branco said at the public hearing in the Chamber of Deputies.
