Who Owns Telxius
Telxius is majority-owned by Telefónica, the Spanish telecoms group, which holds 70%. The remaining 30% belongs to Pontegadea, the investment vehicle of Zara founder Amancio Ortega.
The two bought out a 40% stake previously held by KKR in 2022. Telxius describes its network as spanning more than 100,000 kilometres (62,000 miles) of subsea and terrestrial fibre.
In July 2026, Telefónica and Pontegadea said they were seeking buyers for the whole of that submarine cable business. Market estimates put its value at around €1.2 billion, with financial advisers already contacting potential buyers.
