Taiwan highlights favorable business environment in Paraguay

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – At the event’s opening, FEPRINCO and Rural Association of Paraguay (ARP) chairman Dr. Pedro Galli Romañach said that Paraguay’s conditions generate a very favorable business environment to establish business partnerships between Taiwanese and Paraguayan entrepreneurs, for its sustainable and economical food production, its environmentally friendly and inclusive society, and its stable and predictable economy.

He further said that Taiwan is expected to continue investing in the country, providing technology and approaching entrepreneurs to generate new sources of employment.

Dr. Galli Romañach highlighted that the active diplomatic intermediation enabled a closer and stronger cooperation relation; however, despite the recent large increase in commercial and cultural exchange, this relation is still in its infancy.

“As strategic partners and given the market positioning of our fellow country and its Southeast Asian environment, we have a promising future and an enormous potential to exponentially increase our commercial exchange. Today, Taiwan has become the third largest buyer of our star product, which is beef, and we hope to soon enable pork exports, one of the products with the greatest growth potential in our country, given its position as a major grain producer,” said the head of FEPRINCO and ARP.

Bilateral business conferences have been regularly held between Taiwanese and Paraguayan entrepreneurs since 1993 with the purpose of strengthening trade relations and enabling economic cooperation.

This year’s edition focused on the “Processed Food Industry” and “Green Energy” sectors. During the plenary session, industry experts from both sides shared their best business practices, and speakers highlighted potential cooperation opportunities to be developed between Taiwan and Paraguay.

The 11th joint conference not only provided valuable industry insights, but also opened up meaningful dialogues between the Taiwanese and Paraguayan business communities. Both sides hope to create a favorable business environment to establish business partnerships between entrepreneurs from both countries.

The event was opened by CIECA chairman Yau-Kuen Hung and FEPRINCO chairman Dr. Pedro Galli Romañach.

Also in attendance were Ambassador Alexander Tah-Ray Yui, Taiwan’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Economist Pedro Mancuello, Paraguay’s Vice-Minister of Trade and Services of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce; Director of Primary Energy Resources of Paraguay’s Vice-Ministry of Mines and Energy (VMME) Engineer Felipe Mitjans; COPALSA and the Paraguayan Chamber of Food Companies (CEPALI) chairman Dr. Carlos Insfrán; in addition to FEPRINCO and CIECA members who attended virtually and in-person, totaling 120 participants.

The Taiwanese representatives and speakers met at the Taiwan International Convention Center (TICC), and the Paraguayans were invited to the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Paraguay.
