Starlink to arrive this year in Argentina and Paraguay

In the last quarter of 2022, Starlink will be arriving in Argentina and Paraguay. Elon Musk’s low orbit satellite company announces this on its website, where you can also see in which countries of the region its satellite connectivity service is already available.

In Argentina, the company still has several procedures, which have not been completed since they need specific definitions from the authorities in charge. The changes in Argentina could cause some more delays.

Everything will depend on how things are resolved in the telecommunications area in the next few days.

The satellite Internet service is active in remote areas of Chile, where so far, it has not been possible to reach with other types of technology to provide connectivity, and the Chilean state pays for the cost of this service.

In addition, it has recently become available in Brazil, specifically in the south, from Rio de Janeiro, and has full coverage in Mexico, Canada, and the central western United States.

It also has coverage in the Caribbean, particularly in the Dominican Republic, where it recently began its commercial activity, and in Puerto Rico.

In several of these countries, the company has entered into direct negotiations with governments to obtain the relevant authorizations.

Before Argentina and Paraguay, Starlink reports on its website that during this third quarter, it will be active in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Panama, and in 2023 it will be active in Bolivia, Costa Rica, and Guatemala, in addition to the areas located north of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil.

As can be seen, the company is seeking to offer its connectivity services through its constellation to the different countries in the region, many of which, due to their diverse geographies, require satellites to provide Internet access to their inhabitants.

In 2021, during his presentation at the summer Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Elon Musk anticipated that he would seek to expand the commercialization of his services, which could also be combined with future 5G technologies that will be gradually deployed in Latin America.
