Venezuela and Nigeria hold first joint commission to promote South-South cooperation

Between August 5 and 7, Venezuela and Nigeria will hold the first mixed commission to promote South-South cooperation, informed the Foreign Minister of the South American nation, Carlos Faría.

“Today we received brother Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama [of Nigeria], with whom we will be presiding, between August 5 and 7, the first Venezuela-Nigeria Mixed Commission for the benefit of both peoples and a decisive boost to South-South cooperation, instructed by President Nicolás Maduro,” said Faría through the social network Twitter.

Faría detailed that both countries agreed to build a roadmap to boost bilateral cooperation.
“Our full agreement in the promotion of a pluripolar world, as well as the defense of peace and international law,” he added.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Venezuela and Nigeria have signed 11 agreements in technical and cultural cooperation, suppression of visas, fight against drug trafficking, local governments, energy and oil, and strategic dialogue, among others.

He also explained that 21 bilateral agreements are currently under negotiation in communication and information, defense, the fight against money laundering, agriculture, air services, aeronautical cooperation, recognition of diplomas, trade, and tourism.
