Known as one of the biggest names on the British underground scene and one of the most knowledgeable DJs around, Smith’s mixes feature a wide range of music including works from the genres of Northern Soul, ska, rocksteady, breaks, boogaloo, dancehall, classic hip hop, rap, reggae, roots, dub, and funk.
He is well known for his recorded mixes, compilations and for his love of spinning vinyl.
When asked what he plans to throw down in Rio, Smith told The Rio Times, “I have never been to Brazil in my life so don’t know quite what to expect. Hopefully they will be open minded and won’t just want to hear dull new R&B Radio tunes (cause I dont play them!)”

Tonight at Fundição Progresso Brazilian singer Maria Rita presents her newest album entitled, Coração a Batucar. Dedicated to samba, it is the sixth release of her career. Daughter of musical icons Elis Regina and César Camargo Mariano, Maria Rita is a popular and accomplished recording artist in her own right. She sold over one million copies of her self-titled debut album and received the Paulista Association of Art Critics prize for best singer in 2002.

Lapa’s Circo Voador welcomes musician and composer Guilherme Arantes for the first time as he premieres his new highly anticipated album entitled, “Condição Humana” (“Human Condition”). Singer-songwriter Silva will join Arantes in tonight as he begins his own tour, “Vista Pro Mar.”
