We have the top three picks for this Tuesday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
Lapa Irish Session @ Lapa Irish pub (Lapa) – All those interested in traditional Irish music (with any level of skill) are welcome to take part in the Lapa Irish Session which takes place every Tuesday at Lapa Irish Pub.

The Lapa Irish Pub is a great place to relax with friends and have a beer. Just be prepared to abide by a few rules for the night: Only sit at the musicians’ table if you have to; usually the more experienced musicians play the tunes, and will invite other musicians to start at their discretion; if playing any accompaniment, do not play too loud! Do not speak to the musicians while they are playing; ask before recording the session; Never touch another person’s instrument without permission! Feel free to sing the chorus in a drinking song, but during a capella songs, it is the rule for the audience to remain silence.

If in doubt speak with the band: Fernanda Esteves, Daniel Xavier, Hugo Pansini and Daniel Nicolato, or the very helpful manager of the pub, Suellen. This evening is free entry and usually begins at around 8:30PM.

LIVE:
Aos Novos Compositores @ Beco do Rato (Lapa) – This cultural project for new composers is an evening where sambistas can present previously unpublished work of their own. This is an exciting evening of live music from some of the best young samba composers in the city.

It takes place twice per month, always on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. And the event aims to support the local samba music scene by showing works by composers who are not (yet) big samba stars.

The event is free entry and it usually begins at 8PM.

Aos Novos Compositores – Rua Joaquim Silva – Lapa

LIVE:
Tributo a Elvis @ Teatro Rival Petrobras (Centro) – The Burning Love Band are presenting a live Elvis tribute tonight at the Teatro Rival Petrobras in Rio’s city center.

Maxwell Fernandes (vocals and guitar) and Marco Moura (vocals and guitar) have been busy putting together a project that respects the legacy left by Elvis Presley, focusing on the most faithful reproduction possible of the arrangements established by the King of Rock, respecting the differences of the different epochs. They are joined by Renato Coelho (bass), Ricardo “Chapô” (drums and vocals) and Alex Feitosa (keyboard and vocals).

Tickets are available from R$25-R$50 and the show should start at 7:30PM.
