The European Union, honored with a Nobel Peace Prize for its post-war reconciliation, teeters today on the edge of a self-made crisis, its shift from peacemaker to provocateur a sobering tale unfolding before us.
A Legacy Squandered in Ukraine
The Ukraine war marks a stark divide between Europe’s past and present. This was a chance for the EU to channel its diplomatic heritage—recall the quiet resolve of Konrad Adenauer, rebuilding Germany, or Jean Monnet, weaving nations into cooperation.
Instead, as peace talks surfaced in Jeddah, the European Parliament in Strasbourg voted to escalate the fighting, prioritizing more arms over negotiation.
