Brazilian Nubank Will Pay for iFood Purchases and Customer Inquiries

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Nubank digital bank has created a R$20 (US$4) million fund to assist its clients during the coronavirus crisis. The resources will come from the fintech’s marketing budget and other efficiency earnings and will fund remote medical and psychological care through video, supermarket and drugstore orders, among other services.

To do so, it has signed partnerships with companies such as the Sírio-Libanês Hospital, the Zenclub psychological care App, the iFood and Rappi delivery companies, and the Zee.Dog pet shop products App.

The initiative operates as follows: customers connect with the bank, clarify their needs, and Nubank directs customers to a partner in the initiative, insofar as possible.

According to Nubank, its service team is being trained to understand customers’ needs and seek ways to assist them. Contacts may be made by phone, chat and e-mail. Requests regarding Nubank’s products are being addressed as usual.

The Sírio-Libanês Hospital has already provided over 1,000 consultations in its medical teleguidance platform for the fintech’s customers. The bank will use part of the fund to continue providing the service for free, through vouchers to schedule a virtual consultation on the hospital platform.

The partnership with the Zenclub psychological care platform will function along the same lines. According to the situation, the fintech will provide vouchers to its customers to use for a free consultation on the platform.

Zee.Dog will offer a 20 percent discount to the fintech’s customers on the first App purchase. Nubank will cover additional medical care and items for pets, with vouchers of up to R$100 discount on App purchases, which runs only in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The partnership with iFood and Rappi will work through credits that can be used for food deliveries or other purchases. “The full amount of the purchase and delivery will be paid by Nubank”, says the bank. The fintech will also help customers who are not familiar with the Apps to ensure that orders are placed.

The company further states that it is taking measures to minimize the impacts of the coronavirus on the financial affairs of its customers. Cases related to personal loan and payment of invoices are being assessed through service channels.
