Jorge Drexler plays the Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito in Santo Domingo on Sunday, 14 February 2027, and Monday, 15 February 2027. Uepa Tickets, the official seller, lists both nights of his Taracá tour, and seats were on sale on Thursday, 15 October.

For US fans, Drexler’s tour listing gives an 8:00 p.m. start, or 7:00 p.m. Eastern, and seats start at about US$101. US citizens can visit the Dominican Republic for up to 30 days without a visa.

Who Jorge Drexler Is and Why These Shows Matter

Jorge Drexler is a Uruguayan singer, composer and musician who has lived in Spain for years. He won the Oscar for best original song in 2005, for his music and lyric in The Motorcycle Diaries.

His new album, Taracá, is nominated for Album of the Year at the 27th Latin Grammy Awards. The Latin Recording Academy also lists his song “¿Cómo Se Ama?” for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

The awards air live on Univision from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Thursday, 12 November. A win there would come three months before Drexler reaches Santo Domingo.

El Caribe, a Santo Domingo daily, reported in late May that Taracá arrives four years after his previous album, Tinta y Tiempo. The paper said the record draws on the roots of candombe, an Afro-Uruguayan drum tradition.

The paper also named “Te Llevo Tatuada,” a duet with Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko, among the new songs. It said seven musicians play the new material on stage alongside his best-known work.

Drexler’s tour listing places the Santo Domingo nights between Lima on Friday, 12 February 2027, and Quito on Wednesday, 17 February 2027. US fans closer to home can see him at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on Saturday, 14 November.

Tickets and Prices

Uepa Tickets sells both nights online, listing four seating zones with prices that already include service charges. Conversions use DOP 61.29 per US dollar, the open.er-api.com rate of 15 October 2026.

  • Stalls, rows A to N: DOP 11,800 (about US$193)
  • Stalls, rows O to BB: DOP 9,500 (about US$155)
  • Lower balcony: DOP 7,800 (about US$127)
  • Upper balcony: DOP 6,200 (about US$101)

The ticket page says adults and children may attend, and any child who takes a seat needs a ticket. The theatre’s own listing for these shows sets a minimum age of five.

The theatre does not exchange or refund tickets once bought, except in special cases such as a cancelled show. Buy only from Uepa Tickets or its outlets, since resale sites list these shows at their own prices.

El Caribe named the Uepa outlet on Núñez de Cáceres in Santo Domingo as a sales point. It also listed the service desks at Supermercados Nacional and Jumbo stores.

The Venue and How to Get There

The Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito opened on 16 August 1973 at Avenida Máximo Gómez 35, in the Plaza de la Cultura. That arts complex sits in Gazcue, a leafy district just west of the Colonial Zone.

The theatre’s own listing places both shows in the Sala Carlos Piantini, which it says seats 1,578 people. The hall has stalls, a suspended balcony and side boxes, and its mahogany-lined walls help the acoustics.

The theatre names Casandra Damirón station on Metro Line 1, at the Plaza de la Cultura, as its nearest stop. At night, a short app ride from the Colonial Zone or Naco is the simpler option.

The theatre says it may refuse entry once its doors close, so arrive at least 30 minutes early. Evening traffic on the main avenues around Gazcue can be slow, so leave extra time.

The theatre also enforces a dress code and can turn away guests in shorts, ripped jeans, caps, flip-flops or sandals. Food and drink are not allowed in the halls or lobby, but the theatre runs a bar.

Tips for US and Foreign Visitors

US citizens need a passport valid for six months from arrival, the State Department says. A tourist card for stays of up to 30 days costs US$10 and is included in airline charges.

Every traveller must also complete an eTicket for each entry into and exit from the country. A visa is required only for visits longer than 30 days.

The State Department rates the Dominican Republic at Level 2, Exercise Increased Caution, because of crime. It advises against unregulated taxis and the shared minibuses called guaguas, which lack basic safety features.

It suggests hotel-recommended or well-known taxi companies, and says rideshare services such as Uber are available in many areas. The tourist police, POLITUR, answer on 809 222 2026, and the emergency number is 911.

The Dominican Republic keeps Atlantic Standard Time all year and does not change its clocks. In February that puts Santo Domingo one hour ahead of New York, Miami and the rest of the US East Coast.

What It Means for You

For a US fan, this is a chance to see an Oscar winner and Latin Grammy nominee in a 1,578-seat hall. Seats start at about US$101 with service charges already included.

The Sunday show falls on Valentine’s Day, an easy date night for couples living in Santo Domingo. Visitors flying in should complete the eTicket early and plan an app ride back to their hotel after the show.

What Is Not Known

Uepa Tickets has not printed a start time, door time, opening act or show length for either night. The 8:00 p.m. start comes from Drexler’s official Bandsintown tour listing and could still change.

The ticket page does not show how many seats remain in each zone, and no promoter is named. It is also not confirmed whether the shows will be filmed or streamed.

What Comes Next

Next comes the Latin Grammy ceremony in Las Vegas on Thursday, 12 November, where Taracá competes for Album of the Year. Any change to the Santo Domingo dates or times would come through Uepa Tickets, so ticket holders should watch their email.
