Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Electro-pop pioneers Information Society return to Rio to play Lapa’s Circo Voador tonight. The venue hosts the band in celebration of the tenth anniversary of their Festa Ploc (Ploc Fest or 80s/retro parties).
Formed in 1982 by synthesizer player Paul Robb, vocalist Kurt Larson and bassist/keyboardist Jim Cassidy, Information Society is responsible for numerous hits including “Walking Away”, “Think” and “Running,” and the 1988 single, “What’s on Your Mind (Pure Energy).”

Samba is alive in Lapa tonight and tomorrow with more than twenty artists taking to Fundição Progresso’s stage to celebrate one of the most popular genres of music in the city. Performers include Zeca Pagodinho, Arlindo Cruz, Grupo Revelação, Péricles, Cantor Mumuzinho, Serjão Loroza, Mariene de Castro, Xande de Pilares, and Hamilton de Holanda.

Jhonson de Almeida (Centro)
