Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Run VDG is back tonight in Alto Vidigal. If you haven’t been to a party there, you should. Besides the DJs providing some of the best Underground and Tech House around, the views from Alto Vidigal of the city, its beaches, Leblon and Ipanama, the Lagoa and the Guanabara Bay stretching out all the way to Niterói, are not to be missed.
Tonight marks the last Rio gig for San Francisco DJ Mike Frugaletti. He will perform a special set “Bye- bye Brazil” as his last set in Rio before returning home after living for years as an expat in the city. São Paulo native Marcelo K2 and Carioca DJ Bruno Correia will also throw down with London DJ and current Rio resident Jody King starting the night with his opening set at 10:30PM.

Famed Brazilian popular musician Jorge Ben Jor will bring his unique sounds that fuse the sounds of samba, funk, rock and bossa nova with clever lyrics to Lapa’s Circo Voador tonight.

The Brazilian Wax party returns tonight for its first event of the year. Taking over the three floors of Centro’s La Paz, DJs Pedro Piu, Nepal, Marcelo Jesse, Rodrigo Correia, Ricardo Estrella, and the duo Click Box (Pedro Turra and Marco AS) will keep the music going all night.

Singer, actor and composer Alan Rocha brings his samba repertoire to Rio Scenarium beginning at 8PM with CHORO A 3 playing at 8:30 PM in the Annex. The duo, Brothers of Brazil will play at 9:30 PM in the Annex with Samba na Veia bringing the best of 60s and 70s sambas and bossa novas to the mainstage starting at 9PM.
