Double salary 2022: Dominican public sector will pay more than RD$25 billion

The Dominican Government will pay more than RD$25 billion (US$460 million) to public servants, pensioners and the military for double salary or salary 13, starting Monday, December 5.

The amount, also called the Easter royalty or Christmas bonus in some Latin American countries, increased 19% compared to 2021, when the Government delivered RD$21 billion.

The delivery covers RD$16,555,749 to Central Government servants, RD$5,596,912,925 to decentralized or autonomous institutions and US$1,626,000, equivalent to RD$88,405,620 for the payment of royalties to public employees who provide services in the outside.

Also RD$1,755,094,821 of current transfers to pay the double salary and RD$1.392 billion to entities that belong to the constitutional powers, for a total of RD$25,333,564,127.

WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO RECEIVE THE DOUBLE SALARY?

The first to collect salary 13 will be pensioners, members of the Armed Forces and the National Police. Then the other institutions will follow.

Last year, the Government delivered more than RD$21 billion distributed in RD$16.815 billion to the central government servers, RD$4.255 billion to servers of the decentralized and autonomous non-financial institutions and RD$2.911 billion to the entities that belong to the constitutional powers.

The delivery of the double salary boosts the economy with Christmas shopping. One study found that of the countries in Latin America, the Dominican Republic was the least affected by costs this year compared to the nation’s median monthly family income. Dominican families are expected to spend 34% of their income on parties.
