Dominican merenguero Johnny Ventura dies of a heart attack

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Legendary Dominican merenguero Johnny Ventura died Wednesday at the age of 81, a victim of a heart attack, his family informed the press.

According to initial reports, the death of the popular artist, former deputy, and former mayor of Santo Domingo occurred in a clinic in the province of Santiago (north).

At the end of March 2020, Ventura, who unsuccessfully ran for mayor of the Dominican capital in the last municipal elections, was hospitalized for three days after testing positive for covid-19, a disease he recovered satisfactorily.
