Rio de Janeiro hotel network opened 2022 with 96% occupancy

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The turn of the year boosted the tourism sector in the city of Rio de Janeiro. According to a survey by HotéisRIO, hotels in Rio de Janeiro registered 96% occupancy. The figure confirms the sector's expectations, which anticipated a large flow of visitors.

Hotel managers attribute the demand to the wide vaccination coverage and the requirement of proof of vaccination to access hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions, which somehow helped to reassure travelers.

The majority of bookings were from Brazilian tourists from São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás and Rio Grande do Sul . . .
