RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The electro-electronic appliance industry continues to report higher-than-normal cost pressures, in addition to a shortage of parts that is causing delays and, in some cases, partial production stoppages in half the plants.
A survey conducted last month by ABINEE, the association representing the sector, with companies in the industry of products such as cell phones, notebooks and TVs, shows that 41% of them have delayed production and sales due to the irregular supply of electronic components.
For 8% of manufacturers, the same issue is leading to partial production stoppages.
