RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - If the price of copper falls below US$4 a pound, the Peruvian economy could slip into a recession. Copper futures in New York fell to US$4.16 a pound on Tuesday, after hovering above US$4.50 for months.
The conditions established in China in the face of the outbreak of the pandemic have generated a drop in demand for the metal, which affects the Peruvian economy.
