Guatemala launches ‘Country Brand’ initiative to promote its image globally

Guatemalan authorities officially launched ‘Marca País’ (“Country Brand“), an initiative to promote Guatemala’s image in global markets.

The president of this Central American nation, Alejandro Giammatei, described Country Brand as “a distinction that represents a strategic national project, derived from a shared vision between the public and private sectors to promote Guatemala globally”.

“It is an effective way for the world to feel that this is the best destination to invest, visit and live. A destination to discover and learn about Guatemala’s three thousand years of cultural wealth, including the origins of one of the most important civilizations of humanity,” said Giammatei during the official launch ceremony held Wednesday, August 24, at the National Museum of Art of Guatemala (MUNAG), in La Antigua Guatemala.

The Country Brand project, which seeks to boost tourism, investments, and exports to generate thousands of jobs, is the responsibility of the Guatemalan Tourism Institute (Inguat), which cooperates in this initiative with the ministries of Economy, Foreign Affairs, Public Finance, Culture and Sports, and other institutions.
