Unemployment fell in 22 of the 27 Brazilian states in the second quarter of this year, according to a report published by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The states with the lowest unemployment rates were Santa Catarina, in the southern region, with 3.9%, and Mato Grosso, in the Amazon region, which had unemployment of 4.4%.
IBGE's National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) recently reported that unemployment at the national level was 9.3% in the second quarter, with a drop of 1.8% compared to the previous quarter.
