Brazil: gasoline rises over 12% at the beginning of Lula’s administration

The first four months of Lula’s administration as President of the Republic saw an increase in the country’s average price of regular gasoline.

The newest edition of the “Panorama Veloe of Urban Mobility Indicators” shows that the price of this fuel grew 12.2% compared to the period from January to April 2022.

Released this Monday, 8, the survey was conducted in partnership with the Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas (Fipe) [Foundation Institute for Economic Research].

In the first four months of 2023, regular gasoline was not the only fuel to register an accumulated increase.

According to the study, gasoline with additives also presented inflation above two digits: a 10.6% increase.

Hydrous ethanol was another item in which the average price grew, in this case, by 4.8%.

Meanwhile, vehicular natural gas (CNG) and regular diesel prices fell, comparing the first four months of this year with the same period last year. They were 7.5% and 8.9% cheaper, respectively.

However, the most significant drop recorded in the period was for S10 diesel, down 9.9%.
