Brazil expects record grain harvest of 312.4 million tons
Brazil, one of the world’s largest food producers, will have a record grain harvest of 312.4 million tons, an increase of 15.32% compared to last year, the president of the National Supply Company (Conab), Guilherme Ribeiro, said today.
In a radio interview, Ribeiro said that the 2022-23 grain harvest would be a record thanks to a 3% increase in the planted area and favorable weather, which helped plantings.
Together, soybean and corn will have a harvest of 279 million tons, consolidating them as the main products of the Brazilian crop.

According to Ribeiro, “prices will continue to be very attractive for soybeans, and we expect exports of around 96 million tons, an increase of 22.5% compared to last year’s crop.
Two other major commodities, rice and beans, will be down due to a smaller harvested area, although production will be sufficient for domestic consumption. The forecast is for 11 tons of rice and three tons of beans.
“It is more than enough to feed the Brazilian population and have a consumption surplus,” he added.
Mato Grosso state (center-west) remains Brazil’s leading grain producer, with an estimated 89 million tons of grains in this harvest.
